10 examples like Truth Hypothesis:

This is my 100th post. First Big milestone . I am writing one blog post everyday since the end of March.

Truth Hypothesis:  Speaking truth should be a default thing in your life. As a human being , you may not know what you want or what is right for you. Your actions always have consequences . There is always a price to pay. By speaking truth, assume that this result is the best outcome and you will have no regrets.
This hypothesis can be applied to other emotions/ actions.

  1. Work Ethics- Suppose you work at a 9-5 job. Your attitude should be to give 100% to that job. You should not use phone at office or sleep or gossip at all. If your company has a negative growth or a downfall, you should not take stress over it since you always gave your 100%.
  2. Sports Playing- For playing a sport, you body should be in a proper shape and you should have proper sleep. This way, you wont be distracted on the field and then if you loose, it wont bother you much. Efforts should be 100% percent not less not more.
  3. Sleep Hypothesis- What actually leads to incomplete sleep? You go to bed with unfinished thoughts and after hours of mindless scrolling on your phone, you actually haven't prepared for sleep. So, How to shut down this thoughts ? Maybe take time to be grateful and sleep in a relaxed posture with no screens in the radius of 3 metre.                                                                 Another thing- Sleeping is all about resting but your frequently change your posture during night. So the movements have to stop. If you move a lot, you are using your energies which again is not resting. So you are not giving your 100%.
  4. Games Hypothesis-- Anything you do should enrich the quality of your life and it should not be momentary. You play a physical sport . Not only you enjoy it but it has impact on your fitness. It has no harmful long term impacts.Compare this with a digital game where you only get  momentary pleasure. Longterm impacts can be effect on your eyesights, reduction in productivity and a negative impact on relationships when you avoid your friends to play these games.
  5.  Eating food: How do you get the maximum out of food? By paying 100% attention to food. Not speaking when you are eating. Being grateful before eating. Chewing the food 32 times. Not eating foods which are momentary pleasures. Posture should be erect also so that movement of food is smooth. What food is right can be decided by two factors : Will it enrich the quality of my life?  and Will I regret this in the morning?
  6. Sitting: The way you sit affects your emotions. If you make decisions in convex/laid back posture, the actions you do are basically to seek pleasure. Like ordering food from outside, using phone, watching match, procrastinating etc. Your spine is part of Central Nervous System. There is a reason that it is closely associated with brain. Armies around the world stress a lot on the postures of their soldiers. So, Try to sit straight.
  7. Thinking: The ultimate aim of humans is to think. How we can refine the process of thinking? Today, we get distracted easily if we start thinking on one topic? If we are not 100% involved, decisions may go wrong. The solution here will be writing. Writing streamlines our thoughts. Every-time you get distracted, write that down also. Social Media/ Youtube influence your thoughts in a negative way. So , avoid using them, You should form your basic philosophies by experimentation rather than following any star/actor. 1 hour of solitude is required daily.
  8. Organising your room: If your room is messy, your thought will be messy too. Simple funda of triggers can be applied too. Have a rule to not use your phone in house. Make an imaginary box on floor outside your room where you will use your phone. Have a calendar in your room. Your room should be ultra clean. Dont underestimate the impact of environment on your thoughts.
  9. Blood Donation- The 100% hypothesis is not true here. You should give only one unit of blood. Not every drop.
  10. Journalling: You have to define your own rules of journalling and Stick to them until the end of your life. There is a plethora of events happening in the day. There are subtle hints by God in  all those little actions. e.g. every-time you repeat a mistake, the punishment of that action increases with the count of mistake. You need a calm mind and one hour at the end of day to capture that. Writing thoughts impromptu will also help you to observe your thoughts.

Often people view meditation as something to improve your concentration during studies. This is one of the benefits of meditation. Actually, meditation teaches you to be 100 % involved in anything. If you get fully involved in little things of fully, then it becomes easy to focus on hard tasks.

10 thoughts about deriving entertainment from screens:

In today's world, we seek pleasure/entertainment from mobiles/laptops:

  1. We prefer Netflix than going to the cinema hall. Going to the cinema hall with family is a full-on experience where we do a lot of other things than watching a movie on a screen. Any form of entertainment should involve your active involvement.
  2. Dancing is better than watching other people dance. The idea that you watch dance videos to seek inspiration is again a foolish concept. 99% of the people who watch dance videos don't dance at all just like the cricket fans who watch every ball of the match but never play at all.
  3. Being a participant is better than being a spectator: We are not participants at all. We love to see what others are doing but we don't try to do it because of the fear of judgments.
  4. Entertainers think their job is to make people smile/happy: The idea that I can make you happy has one big flaw. If your happiness depends on my actions, then you are a slave to my actions.  What you are getting is a momentary pleasure. Once the moment is gone, you are again returned to your miserable condition.
  5. The negative effect on eyes sight in decreasing order: Mobile Phone> Laptop screens> Big Screens. While watching on mobile screens, your eyes have to work hard, your pupil becomes wider and for noticing small things, you have to focus harder.
  6. One question is: Are we evolved to get entertained all the time? In the past century, there was a lot of physical activity in a day, so passive entertainment could have been justified. But today it's not the case, Our muscles rarely get stretched and the physical exhaustion never happens. So, where we draw the lines of entertainment?
  7. Watching likes/comments on posts of other people: Social Media exploits this vulnerability of complimenting people. We, humans, want to feel appreciated. Social Media encourages those posts which have maximum engagement. So, there are rewards offered for our insecurities.
  8. Being bored: The advertising brands associate boredom with something negative. But being bored is one trait that makes us creative. Working on a problem for a long time will make us bored but if we are comfortable with boredom, we will be able to find a solution.
  9. Videos are replacing books: When something is easily delivered to you in the form of videos, then you hardly think deep about it. When you read books, you think hard and construct an imaginary world which is a difficult but enriching process. But videos don't make you push your cognitive limits.
  10. Songs and Music: Music is enriching. Songs are noise. 90%songs are useless. I am not going to spend my time finding that 10% of good songs.

10 uses of maximalist philosophy:

Maximalist Mindset- A mindset in which any potential for benefit is enough to start using a technology that catches your attention.
In this mindset, it is advertised that more is good.  We use something thinking that it will benefit us in future even though the chance may be less than 5%.

  1. Whatsapp: We might think that it will help us to get in touch with people but its overall harm is bigger than its advantages. The only advantage I see is when I have to talk to people who are living outside India. We open it more  no of times than the no of messages we get in a day.
  2. Facebook: Rather than knowing what people are upto, I find myself scrolling on unnecessary videos. It has no positive use overall.Today, We don't need connectedness in our lives but solitude. F
  3. Reading news: If often happens that we read news in the hope that we might not miss on something important. 90% of the things i read are not relevant to me. Overall also, News has negative impact on human mind.
  4. Finding a partner: We go to clubs /malls/tinder to find a partner or for hookups but i think the overall time investment is huge. The better way will be to not chase this. Do you what you like to do and trust on god to make it happen. Finding good books is easy than finding a partner.
  5. Instagram: I am an engineer and i see no value in using Instagram. To be influenced by thoughts of other person is a negative thing. Seeing how others people are dressed isn't going to make my life better. Instead use that time to write theories or to learn something on coursera.
  6. Trying food in multiple restaurants to find the best one- Often becoming a victim of your taste senses can waste a lot of your time. Try to eat healthy food and you always have lesser options to choose from. Fast food not only has a impact on your physical health but also on mental and emotional health.
  7. Checking Mail more than 3 times in a day.- Checking mail in office is kinda like a sneak peak activity. Its something we do to get away from the current boring task. But we may not get that much mails making most of our trips to mailbox useless
  8. Youtube: Finding something valuable on Youtube is a lot difficult. The trending section and recommended section is full of bullshit. Find some other way to discover valuable channels. More often than not, I think you should not use Youtube more than 30 minutes a week.
  9. Twitter:Again the probability of finding something life changing is very less. It's better not to waste your life on that little probability. Books have better content and they are pretty much focused on one topic which is the best way to gain knowledge.
  10. Quora: I have used Quora a lot . The problem with Quora I think is diversity in answers. I think human mind should not expose itself to completely unrelated things in a short span. It has negative impacts. Ads and displaying news are other problems. Most of the answers are just collection of images. Its better than other social platforms but nothing beats the offline reading experience. For the time being, I would say good bye to quora.
  11. Movies: Its about the time here. Spending 3 hours on a movie--  I would spend that time to read a book or write something or just do nothing. Once the internet knows which movies you liked, it is going to bombard you with recommendations. Its a big loop.
  12. Comedy/Entertainment: If primary aim of any video is entertainment, then drop that thing. Today, the goal of any information should be to make you think. We differ from animals because we can think. As technology grows, the only way we are going to distinguish ourselves from machines is by our ability to think. If any thing is providing you passive information, you should avoid that. Comedy is also a way of escapism.
  13. Escapism: Society thinks its good to have some form of escapism. But I dont agree . Escapism is a lot like drugs. Its better to find the root cause of any problem than avoiding the problem or escaping to something pleasurable.

10 advantages of noFap:

10 advantages of noFap:
When I was in college, I experimented with this lifestyle for an year. I am going to list out my observations here.

  1. Masturbation is harmful. Doctors may say its healthy but I dont think so. Men can survive without masturbation.
  2. All those semen energy gets stored in your body and that energy keeps your body uptight and healthy.
  3. One thing I did to achieve this was to not look at sexual pictures of women . Porn was banned and Instagram also. I was not active on social media. This helped me avoid the crazy fantasies.
  4. I was able to conquer my food cravings. This is my belief that lust  for sex and food cravings are proportional.
  5. It saved me a lot of time.
  6. Another trick that could help is if you start respecting women more. I had this belief that watching porn is disrespect to women and that I should not do it. Even Mahatami Gandhi had one good suggestion here. He said that every women on earth except your wife is like your sister or mother. I couldn't agree with this point more.
  7. Not masturbating is the greatest form of self control in life. Masturbation is the easiest form of pleasure for men and not getting that for a year was a big achievement for me.
  8. My posture improved. Generally after masturbation, you tend to fall into a relaxing posture. Relaxing postures are not productive postures. We tend to fall into our guilty pleasure when we are in relaxing postures.
  9. I believe that a man cannot be successful by disrespecting women. Since porn is insult to women and it kinda inflicts violence on women, a man disrespects women by watching it. During that phase, God rewarded me with some huge successes. Respecting women was one big reason.
  10. By watching something or by using something, we create a demand for that product. If you buy a bottle of Cola, you are unintentionally creating a demand for that product. Somewhere, a bottle is produced because you consumed it. Same goes with porn.
