10 ways we are giving our attention to useless things
- We are bombarded with a superfluous amount of songs. May be we should find a better way to relax. Those singers dont deserve your attention.
- It should not matter to you what is the movie of the week or best movie of the year. Peter Thiel rarely watches any movie.
- Watching Friends again and again. Its funny that you should rely on other things to laugh. I know Friends is funny but watching it again is not a productive thing to do.
- Facebook/Instagram-- The negatives far outweigh the positive ones. To find one good thing, you have to go through tons of bullshit. So please.(a big full stop here)
- Following personal lives of any famous stars. In the last century, how the actors/sport persons lived their life never mattered to us but today we have become increasingly interested.
- Playing games on phones:
- Deriving entertainment from screens.

10 Learnings from Ryan Holiday's Conspiracy book:
- If you think something is having a bad influence on society, would you fight it yourself or would you leave it on Karma or on other people?
- "“When personal gossip attains the dignity of print, and crowds the space available for matters of real interest to the community, it “destroys at once robustness of thought and delicacy of feeling. No enthusiasm can flourish, no generous impulse can survive under its blighting influence.” ”- Harvard Law Review
- “ For every dollar in revenue that Gawker makes, how much economic value is it destroying, for Peter and for other people?” Replace 'Gawker' with any social media platform and 'Peter and for other people' with yourself.
- One of the remarkable things about Peter is that he is a voracious reader. He has read a lot of literature of every kind from war strategy to political ideologies.
- The habit of Peter Thiel to bet on dark Horses is what made him a billionaire. This quality is observed in this book also.
- Often in conspiracy, the success of one side depends on the disillusionment of other side. Here, Gawker never knew that Peter Thiel, the man they outed as gay in 2007 was funding this case and when they did come to know, the trial had destroyed Gawker completely.
- "Culture eats strategy" The reason binding these all conspirators was so strong that they never flinched.
- “And so it is that even setbacks can contain opportunities within them, if conspirators are patient and resourceful enough.” Patience is the most important trait when conspiring.
- Peter thiel and his team prepared for worst case scenario by conducting not one but two mock trials.
- “Grandmaster José Raúl Capablanca”—Thiel’s favorite chess player—“put it well: to succeed ‘you must study the endgame before everything else.’”

10 thoughts about BCCI:
10 thoughts about BCCI:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India.
- Being a sports board, BCCI should encourage to people play more but all it does is that more and more people just watch. None of the products it endorses is a healthy brand. eg. Coca Cola, Lays, Kurkure.
- Cricket is considered a religion in India and I hate religions.
- BCCI and Bollywood: Stopping this country from progressing.
- Cricket is one of the most passive games. Even if any government encourages people to play sport, cricket should be last on the list.
- By constantly bombarding ads while watching a match, they are messing up with the focussing power of people.
- People watching 5-6 hours of cricket match are being unproductive for a long stretch
- IPL, the league spanning over 50 days is another way to gain maximum attention of the people.
- The transformation of cricket from a 5 day test to match to a 6 hour T20 match results in the changing the approach of players towards the game. Whether its good or bad is debatable.
- Indian Media focussing on personal lives of cricket players is another negative thing of this technology era.
- Watching someone play a sport on a screen is a silly concept to me. I cant see other's playing a sport.

My feeling about books
I was reading one book 'Activate Your Brain' by Scott Halford. I came across a quote that really describes my relationship with books.
“ And I hope that while you’re reading, you stop and think about how you feel about the topic we’re discussing. The magic lies in what you say to yourself as you read; the experience becomes a dance between the words on the page and a new, budding awareness in your brain. It becomes a book about you because you place yourself into the conversation.”
